The Handmade Bakery
The Handmade Bakery (HMB) is a not for profit community supported artisan bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. We are a workers co-operative, owned and run by our members. It consists of a flourishing bakery producing 2000 loaves of real bread and patisserie each week, and a vibrant contemporary café space. Established in 2009, we are proud to be at the heart of our local community. The Handmade Bakery pioneered the idea of the Community Supported Bakery. The support of local people committing to a regular HMB loaf on subscription was integral to the establishment of our business. When we first moved to our current premises we had the generous support of local people which enabled the bakery to move to our current canal side position. As part of this innovative business model we paid back our lenders their interest in bread, we have now paid all of these bread bonds back. These Bread Bond holders were the first of their kind in the UK.

Acorn & Pip
Acorn & Pip is a lifestyle brand who offers cherished customers more than just a product. We are devoted to creating a playful retail experience rooted in mindfulness and authenticity. Our eye for quality ensures our toys, clothing, gifts and homewares are carefully curated with kids in mind. Finally, a place where the entire family can reconnect, play and make mischief. The Acorn & Pip venture began when I became a mother for the first time – it totally transformed the way I see the world; albeit slightly more tired, a world through the eyes of a child is a much more exciting and intriguing place!
A combination of new motherhood mixed with my passion and background in children’s education, Acorn & Pip has grown into a much-loved haven where the child is at the heart of every decision I make.

Olive Branch Inn
The Olive Branch Inn, nestled in the picturesque and historic Colne Valley, is one of Marsden’s finest dining establishments.
Burrowed amidst the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate, The Olive Branch boasts views which overlook the peaks and valleys of this heritage village.
From a modest start as an 18th Century drinking inn, The Olive Branch has been a much loved establishment since 1830 when Joseph Sykes, one of the first landlords, ran The Olive Branch as an ‘orderly house with no gambling, swearing or drunkenness’.
Fast forward 160 years and it is now in its second generation of family ownership. Traditions of a warm, family welcome and fine food have continued through to this day and we pride ourselves on impeccable service, attention to detail and our friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Whether you choose to dine in the comfortable, atmospheric restaurant with open fires, wooden beams and a relaxed atmosphere or outside on the elevated decking overlooking the rugged and dramatic landscape, we strive to offer you the finest selection of well cooked, local produce washed down with an extensive selection of award-winning cask ales, a superb choice of fine wines and a well-sourced array of gins.
The inn is situated in extensive grounds where we can host weddings, corporate events or private functions with an idyllic backdrop. Click here for more information.
Amongst everything we offer, we truly believe it is the warm and friendly welcome and excellent customer service that sees many return time after time. When you visit us, you'll discover a little gem; a delightful country inn that has delivered consistently excellent food and service for over two decades, and which continues to go from strength to strength.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Rose and Crown
Welcome to the Rose and Crown. One of the highest pubs in Yorkshire, elevated above the village of Slaithwaite at 988 feet from sea level along with stunning views of the beautiful Colne Valley and over 50 miles beyond on a clear day. You have to travel as far as Northern Poland in search of the next elevation from the Eastern viewpoints in the main bar, restaurant and function room. They may share the same rural setting but are unlikely to offer real ales and homemade Yorkshire pudding.
We specialise in high quality, locally farmed produce sourced from the hills of Yorkshire and the menus reflect our setting with homemade pies, hearty mains and rotating specials. Food is available 7 days from 12 noon right through until 8:30pm with lunch menus, midweek offers, afternoon tea, function facilities along with large party dining with no service charges or room hire costs. Real ales travel from goose eye brewery in Keighley, the well renowned black sheep ale from Masham along with rotating specials from micro breweries within a 15 minute drive of our cellar drop.
Stephen Kerr your host and landlord discovered the Rose and Crown almost a decade ago and turned this venue from a dormant pub with a real possibility of closing forever into the bustling space we see today. A traditionalist who takes great pride in the values of being a publican, keeping a great pint along with exceptional food standards and taking on an active role in charity work and community spirit. The Rose and Crown is an independent pub in a sector filled with chain dining, that maintains a flavour of family values dating back to the first licensee james Shaw in 1832 who's family held residence for almost 100 years.
Our doors are open to family's, locals and dog walkers including their four legged companions. Whether you're gluten free, have muddy boots, or a flat bicycle tire, feel free to sample the delights of this hidden gem at the heart of the newly developed pennine heritage trail, the home of a truly English pub experience.
